Downtown Las Vegas has seen yet another month of year-over-year improvement in gaming revenue. September marks the third straight month of positive gaming revenue for downtown, and on a percentage basis, the second month in a row downtown’s performance has exceeded that of the Las Vegas strip.

The September results are a continuation of a trend that has shown a steady rise in gaming revenues downtown.  Five of the last six months from April through September have shown an increase.  The September downtown gaming revenues of $53,360,000 bring the year-to-date total to a positive 1.2 percent.

“A combination of efforts is contributing to this reversal of trend including investment by casino operators and others in the downtown core,” said Jeff Victor, president of the Fremont Street Experience. “As a destination marketing company, we saw it as our job to reposition the Fremont Street Experience to reflect the new energy and excitement occurring downtown. Accordingly, we developed new advertising creative and expanded our entertainment programs, and customers are responding with increased visitation and spending.”

September’s 12.5 percent increase puts downtown Las Vegas in positive double digits for the first time in 2007 and is among the highest of gaming revenue increases in Clark County.

“Being up double digits is great news for downtown, the Fremont Street Experience and the city of Las Vegas, but the best is yet to come,” said Mayor Oscar B. Goodman.
